Edwards Manor has been battling bedbugs for months in an uphill battle against the pests. Many of the senior residents aren't physically capable of performing the cleaning tasks required for pest control and don't have financial resources needed to replace or clean their possessions. Furniture and belongings are thrown out behind the building on a regular basis, but other impoverished residents claim the discarded furniture as their own, further spreading the bugs.
